Today Is Pearl Harbor Day
Have you stopped for a moment to appreciate the brave men and women who gave up their lives, limbs, and, sometimes, their future health and welfare so that you don’t speak Japanese or German, today?
Many thousands died during WW II, even more lost limbs or were otherwise crippled. There were those who came home with diseases of many different kinds, some of which were incurable. Many came home to an empty house, where they had left a wife. Some came home to no home and/or no job.
Our veterans have been largely unappreciated, especially since World War II. The Vietnam veterans were probably the worst case; because the American Democratic Party had sided with the Communists in that war. As a result, returning military were called ‘baby killers’ and other epithets and even spat upon. Only the ones such as John Kerry were treated with any respect. If you lied to Congress and the people of this country in order to support the Communists, you were a war hero. Otherwise, you were a ‘baby killer’ or some other kind of undesirable.
This country has (and has always had) the finest and most effective military in the world. Our fighting spirit is only matched by our compassion and our knowledgeable use of our unrivaled technology. I urge you: say “Thank you!” to a veteran or member of the military, today. They stand for your freedom!
